Leazes Croft, Hexham
I project managed the complete renovation of this period cottage and carried out all aspects of the joinery work.
The old small kitchen, toilet and bathroom were all knocked into one to create large open plan kitchen. Roof space opened up and 3 large velux windows installed, creating extra space and light. Also, the addition of extra exposed roof beams in the kitchen. An old coal house was converted into a down stairs cloakroom, the roof was raised and it was integrated into main house via a door way.
A downstairs office (computer area) was created using the under stair space. All of the windows were replaced with new sash windows and an oriel window was fitted to upstairs landing.
Upstairs the main bedroom had an en-suite bathroom created from two back to back cupboards and also utilising the stair well space. There are steps going up from bedroom as the en-suite is on a slightly higher level. A sun tube was fitted, this gives extra light into the en-suite.
The second bedroom had an area sectioned off and a small en-suite shower room was made. New wardrobes were fitted to the alcoves. The roof space was completely opened up to expose beams and a mezzanine bedroom was created with a canopy incorporating lighting fitted above the bed. Access to the mezzanine is via French steps.
